Queer Deer

3 of us out today and 1 Roe for our efforts...BUT...she/he/it was a right mix!!!

 

Roe doe on the face of it, teats and no dangly bits, but the pips of antlers beginning to show!!

 

Never seen one like this...do girls ever have antlers or is this a hormonally mixed up queer??

ive heard of that before mate just like lionesses growing manes ....

Heres a pic of an antlered doe I shot a couple of years back , I wouldnt say they were common but not unheard of . We have had 3 like this up North on different ground. The one I shot in the pic was a large healthy doe , pregnant with twins at the time.

I shot one few years ago in a driven shoot. We were only allowed to shoot bucks that particular day and I could see this doe running in my direction. Just before she jumped out of the forestry I saw small antlers and I then took the decision to shoot. Mine was not pregnant and I was told at that time that these doe usually are bad for reproduction. Apparently the person telling me this was wrong.
