I personally use a Schmit & Bender 8 x 56 Hungarian. Had i about 7 years. As for Ammo better to test a few different makes weights etc and see what suits your rifle, area, quarry etc. ATB Quote Link to post

Mr_Logic 5
I've got one of those too. Very nice scope although I do fine the thick reticle a little much. You could get a Leupold VX-III, they're pretty good at night too. What's your budget? Quote Link to post
Guest gaz100604
can spend upto about 500 pounds Quote Link to post

Mr_Logic 5
The S&B is certainly a good option. Range is a little limited by the thick ret though. My Meopta 4-16x44 was £575 and is very good, with mildots, front focus and a fine reticle (that works surprisingly well under a lamp). If you can't get to the 575, then £430 from the Sportsman gets you the 3.5-10x50, which will have optics as good as (well I can't see the difference, even at night) the Schmidt, but with a finer reticle and more mag, so you get a bit further in terms of when you can see to hit Charlie. jamie g 17
each rifle is different so try some different ammo. good one i would start with though is federal 55 grain softpoints. as for the scope i would go for a zeiss conquest. you wont beat it for day and night shooting for £500 i have one and its superb. number 4 crosshair so its got thick lines at 9,3 and 6 o'clock and thin line at 12 o'clock. locks on to targets more easy that way. and stunning under the lamp. i have a mtc scope thats fine on rimfire and ive shot foxes with it on centrefire to 200 yards. but when i got the zeiss on my 22/250 i could see the foxes in the lamp at 300+ yards and see them clear to. or for around £300 you could get a bushnell elite they offer superb optics to.
