Lerk 0
Meet Ethel the ferret... She's about 2 years old, and is a spayed jill from working stock but was a pet of an old lady who couldn't care for her properly. A friend of a friend knew i was after one so passed her on to me! Got her yesterday afternoon and have been settling her in and introducing the dog (and vice versa), at the moment i can't decide whether he think she is lunch or just smells interesting... Will be testing her on various pipes etc. to get her ready for an outing on saturday, i'll let you know how it goes Edited January 12, 2009 by Lerk Quote Link to post

Lerk 0
Nice going getting a spayed jill no problems with seasons Yep I thought so, although as my cousin pointed out - if she turns out to be a cracking worker, i won't be able to carry on the line... But saves all the hassle of jill jabs or finding a hobble! Just need to find another 1 or 2 now, I'd like a couple of kits come summer too... Quote Link to post

Lerk 0
Acquired a buddy for Ethel yesterday, Vera is an entire jill from last year... She's a little on the portly side having been very well fed on a 100% raw diet, so i'm feeding them separately to keep track on what they're eating. Edited January 19, 2009 by Lerk Quote Link to post

Any particular reason why you are holding it by the scruff mate??? Just to keep it calm and steady for the camera... been using the 'hypnotising' method as part of my handling regime, as well as practicing exiting various hidey holes around the house and calling them to me! The one 8,583
Never liked seeing ferrets held like that makes folk think your scared of it Quote Link to post
Lerk 0
Never liked seeing ferrets held like that makes folk think your scared of it Not scared of her at all, i just use the scruff when i want less wriggling - checking teeth, eyes, ears and claws. and of course when i need one hand to hold a camera phone and therefore need to hold a fast moving ferret still enough to get a photo with one hand!
