micky 3,325
were about to start the booking procedure for this years holiday, looking to go in JULY (we do them cheap "SUN" holidays, £9.50 each and they're quite good) Im a bit stuck as to where to go actually, last year we went to cornwall & cleethorpes. COrnwall was good, but i dont fancy the driving again. Cleethorpes was also spot on but was a bit boring. What region would anybody reccomend to take two kids to? they love going to blackpool, but i couldnt stand doing a week there. Im thinking about lincs. skegness area, but is there plenty to do? cheers Skeggys ok if you dont mind dog shit ,try wells on sea the other side of the wash, its clean ,safe ,and a good base for touring, got a phone number for some nice digs in Snettersham ,somewhere. Doglost Co-Ordinator 4
We go up Scotland with the dogs. Private owed cottage just on side of Loch Fyne, fishing from rocks. Wood at side of cottage with rope swings & camps that other kids have built. Lochgilpead- bout 20mins has the canal to walk along & watch the boats going through locks, library for free internet use, swimming pool. Inverarry -20 mins other way with all the touristy stuff & the jail. Crinan Harbour has amazing beach that goes on forever & never seen more than 10 people on it yet. TV reception bit fuzzy sometimes - but take dvd player or playstation & watch all films you never get chance to see. They have some bikes, fantastic walks & bike rides. The 'big un' is 10 mile round Glashan Burn - uses the loggers trail & goes all way round Glashan. We walk it every time we go back- dogs love it. Owed by really nice couple- two cottages, both sleep 6 easy. Just 5 mins from Minard Castle (private b& owners of cottages live further up the drive in the original stable house for the castle. Got walled garden as well. Ideal place for exploring & nosey kids- away from roads. No good if kids just use xbox & playstation all day thou- too much to do outside. There is the old kennels as well which are secure but havent been used for a while. Were keeping chickens in them but the mink killed them.
