got a friend that taught me the trade and he has a litter of malumutex grey pups 7 weeks old yesterday ,at 6 weeks old they walked 2 miles with him up and down fields and banks ,1mile there and 1mile back .and playing with each other all the time ,they will get more miles as the weeks go by .always done this with any pups and never had any probs.just like to add every dog this person has had does more work than any other dogs that i have ever seen ,and not once have they ever been [what you would call nackerd ]at the end of the night ,im convinced it is all down to starting them young that is why i started doing the same .

never heard so much crap in all my life, walking 7 week old pups 2 miles, the blokes an idiot and so is anyone who follows his example, beggars belief that there are people out there that would even consider this advice

why dont you stop writing and put action where your big mouth is, come for a night out ,hope you can walk and carry,

A 6-7 WEEK old puppy has no business being out of the yard!...walking 2 MILES a day with em is plain Daft!...offering that as serious advice is just wrong!

not advise just explaining what some one i know does and i do the same .not telling any one else to do it.just stick with what you think is best ,only i find it makes a mutch beter dog .i take it that all those that dont agree with this method has had experance of doing it and found that it damages the pups ,[most probibly not just going on what shit they have been told ]like it says ,you can lead a horse to water but you cant make it drink .these pups will be catching when your pups will just be [ALOUD]to smell a rabbit from a distance. My law i have had this debate with you before and i have provided you with evidence that working a puppy hard at such a young age does damage their joints, there minds also are not developed enough to work. You have no evidence that your dogs are any better than others that start them at the CORRECT age and in the correct way. Im not saying mine are better than yours or anything like that, just saying that yours will be no better than the average lurcher and that the only thing that you do by working them so early is risk shortening their career and increase the risk of them suffering from pain and discomfort and injury and increase the risk of them not making the grade.

Walking 6 week old pups is irresponsible, of course they will follow, they are dogs, the human is the higher being and should use common sense imo.

Dogs develop at different ages depending on breeding, size etc so a diffinative time line is difficult, though trader above seems sensible, I've always gone for gently does it for the first 6 to 12 months depending on breed. At the end of the day I wouldn't expect a child of 2 to walk miles and certainly not a pup of 6 to 8 weeks. At such a young age the conective tissues have not fully formed which may distablise joints and lead to damage.

ive been talking to a mate of mine who has gundogs i had my pup with me as always and he said that i shouldnt keep walking her too much as too mucyh mucle will make her deformed :o she comes out mooching every day so should i stop it ?

i think your mates full of shiiiiiite! the only thing you shouldnt do with a pup as far as excercise is concerned is dont let them run owt! im not goin to put an age because everone is different i usually wait till about 10mths.(a few droppers)
