The malt paste reccommended by stubby is good stuff for distracting, but if you can't get hold of it use a squirt of olive oil on her belly. That's what i use. Keeps 'em occupied while you clip.

I'm just down the road in Tam, so if I can help gizza PM mate.

Anyone really struggling to clip the nails down, then stick the ferret under an upturned bucket on a concrete flag, with its food just outside the bucket. (oh and stick a brick on the top of the bucket!)

Give em 5 mins they should be worn down.

(maybee not in the case of the nails folding under the paws though, best get someone good with the clippers to sort those to start with!)

hello in in bloxwich near walsall , west mids . recently rescued a ferret (jill) seems in quite good health considering what she been through . tryin to get her used to me handling her but still cant really just pick her up without her sinking teeth in my fingers , which leads me on to next problem . nail are very long and obviously need trimming but its difficult to get near her at moment ? im also looking to tag along with local ferreter(s) as this seems the best way to learn .

Back of the head front feet threw your fingers stroke her body with your other hand it relax's her ,then i dont know how she can get your fingers

thats how im trying to do it . but maybe im being to gentle its not so bad if im actually holding her its more when i go near her or put her down . and as ive found out when they latch on to u they do tend to hang on :o

well ive just had her in the kitchen for a run around and she was loving it . still biting though having drawn blood again . i can hold her by scruff of neck and she yawns and seems relaxed . but as soon as any part of me is in range she snaps . hoping will get better in time .

If your holding her correctly she will feel relaxed and enjoy it but if she's trying to latch on to anything in range well some ferrets are like that and are never really safe after a fortnight /month i know what i'd to and at least you tried
