Sterry 0
How long does it usually take them to process a FAC grant? i cant remember how long it took for my SCG grant. Any advice would also be handy on what they are like granting people centrefires and open licences on first grant or fairly soon after. Quote Link to post

Sterry 0
I have loads of peices of land all scattered all over the place ranging from small holding (some are pretty big with good backdrops so good for .22lr) right up to 1000s of acres, i seem to have a load of links with land owners that may want an odd job shooting a few bunnies or the odd fox (close range to stop a debate). my uncle and a family friend also are "Light" pest contollers and i get a few days work here and there. By all means i completely understand why im really unlikly to get one (i'll only just be 17 with no FAC holders in the family)in all honestly i dont think i will bwe granted one but. I could proberly make do with a closed for a year or so, just saying it would be easier for me to hold an open ticket. Quote Link to post
SportingShooter 0
Just put down all the land you have on your application. Job Done Quote Link to post
Deker 3,491
Just put down all the land you have on your application. Job Done Absolutely..if you have all this land then you arguably have cause..list everything... The Met are a funny lot...the second largest Firearms authority in England with an apparently great diversity of opinion/view...I have had cause to deal with the Met on behalf on a number of different people!! Reality is, just the same..the Met are not in the habit of handing out Open FAC's on first grant to 17 year olds!! How long have you had a SGC?? Quote Link to post
Sterry 0
i've had it since i was about 12, but been shooting a fair bit before, I would like to say that although I believe and Everyone i've shot with be it shotguns air rifle or rifles that i am a safe shot (not to sound cocky, i maybe a safe shot but not neccisarily a good one ) I completely see where the police have to be carefull especially when granting a "17 years old kid" with a rifle. and in all honesty i dont expect them to grant me with an open ticket, on the off chance i'll speak to the FEO on my interveiw and just discuss the possibiliteis (if any). just wanted to know what to expect of them on the FAC front. The worst that can happen is they can say NO, but this should be discussed at the "visit" informally...make sure you do not get a FORMAL refusal!!! And don't talk in any sort of language or suggestion or interpretation about being a "KID"....maturity will be an advantage, immaturity will not, so demonstrate maturity in every possible way!!!! Sterry 0
When you say informally do you mean just slip it in like "what would the chance of gettind an open ticket be" (any better ways of asking slyly would be much appreiciated as thats pretty naff!) Im a fairly mature lad ...well i can act mature at least. much apprieiated deker. im off bed got to feed one shoot then beatin on another in 6 hours time fun fun fun! Quote Link to post

Slip it into the conversation by all means, but I would simply come straight out with it and ask the question. If the response is very negative by all means discuss and ask how/when you could get an Open FAC but don't push the point! If you push you will likely end up with a FORMAL refusal which sits on your file...not good...if you simply discuss it and agree between you it isn't going to happen then that was just an informal chat with no potential repercussions!!
