Ferreting with rhodey

Well Rhodey came up to mine today for a bit of ferreting.

He arrived about 6:45 i said be here for 6:30,but he was late,i could have had this done that done but no i was waiting for him .

Anyway the good lady did him a big full english(thanks my love by the way,you are a good 'un).

We set off just after with Rhodey moaning he had ate to much never happy these young 'un's.

Went to check some snares i set not even been touched,climbing back over the gate i sat on a large thistle stem feck me it hurt pulled the thorns out sat down in the car and guess what i missed a thorn much to Rhodey's amusment so it was on to the first set,the wind was blowing like mad,a rabbit just hopped about from hole to hole,in the end the ferrets lost it.So we did another 5 setts without bolting a rabbit.By this time i was getting a little peed off,you invite somebody down for a days ferreting and as always happens you never bolt anything.So we went on to the last sett on this farm i was in the ditch up to my knees in water and black sludge :sick: :sick: Rhodey was round the other side watching the long nets,ferrets in and waited a rabbit bolted from in the hedge and ran straight in to the long net.Now at this point i would have packed up and gone home but i thought Rhodey as travelled down,so i will see if we can get more then 1 rabbit for him.

So we went up the hills to see what was about,me still being peed off about not showing the lad many rabbits.

First sett netted up ferrets in and within mins a rabbit bolted,i cheered up a bit.On to the next sett,by this time its about 2:15 i said we will make this the last sett netted up put the ferrets in nothing bolted for about 20 mins so i got the mark1 out and found the ferret,then remembered i left the spade in the car about 2 wet sticky ploughed fields away,so Rhodey offered to fetch it got a mark about 4ft,i thought fecking great,NOW i was really peed off started digging then Rhodey took over it was horrable wet sticky clay,by the time we broke through it was dark,pulled a rabbit out checked to see if there was anymore,NO THERE WAS NOT .Back to the car and home with 3 rabbits,Rhodey looked at me and said words i will never forget "that was a cracking day i really enjoyed it" He said thats his personnal best 3 rabbits.I just looked at him and cracked up laughing.

I looked up just in time to see him pour a brew and asked where's mine.

Rhodey carries on digging while i had a brew.

And finally the rabbit.The hole does not look 4ft,but it was dark and we just wanted to go so it was a quick photo.

Thanks to RHODEY for a fecking miserable day Seriously though mate thanks again.

Did you feel a bit of a "prick" sitting on that thistle MR TP You sharp forget those bad days but least you's are out doing a bit Had a couple of "for f**ks sake" sessions meself this week but roll on the next mooch

There was a few nettle stings as well,It was some bite and sting stick thing,bloody smelt awful.

Cheers again to TP for inviting me over, I enjoyed the day spent it laughing at your miss fortunes.

 

The digging was a bit tough through that fu***ng clay, and then I'm made to go in the shop for the fags looked like swamp thing had just walked in.

 

Oh well all in all a cracking day but next time we aint working them hills.

im led to beleive mr t is partial to warm baby oil three rabbits all day your getting better. i like the look of your benny hat makes you look like sam off emmerdale i still see your clean enough to go straight on the drink nice one mate talk later

Only 4ft and only one dig? Not nice having to do that really when it's the back end of the day, and darkness is drawing in! Well in lads, good show.
