villebones 4
Whenever my terrier runs after something be it a rabbit or another dog she yaps. Anyone tell me how to stop her doing this. Cheers Edited October 20, 2008 by villebones
Malt 379
A dog yapping when chasing something, is usually due to the dog getting frustrated because it can't catch whatever it's chasing. Take it after a few rats to get it started. It should be able to catch them no problem, and so will build up it's confidence and learn that now and again, it will catch something. alimac 882
some as has been said do it out of frustration, others just do it through excitment, personally id be more worryed if it didnt give tounge when in hot pursuit..
skycat 6,174
It's a terrier: terriers yap through all the reasons that have already been given: you'd have to stop it chasing if you want it to stop yapping! I like the fact that mine yap when working cover and chasing rabbits: that way the lurchers know where the quarry is and get themselves in the right place for when it bolts. Zerky 133
There isn't nothing wrong with a terrier yapping when hunting rabbit or fox you will be glad it does when your lurcher is out with you.
