Deker 3,491
Been discussed several times I know but I'm not happy with the mod on my HMR...did we ever come up with something that did the job satisfactorily?? Cheers Quote Link to post
woz 260
i use a jet z by default really,i had it on my centre fire....its alot quiter than any of my mates hmr's but its the best part of £300....so i dont know if it can be counted... Quote Link to post
lgray88 4
what did you do the the plastic cap that slides up the barrel on the hmr ,beacuse we tryed the jet z mod with it on a 22 rimmy as the plastic cover couldnt slide up the barrel far enough for the threads to meet, but it didnt make any diffrence still seemed to work ok without it ??? liam Quote Link to post

I guess they are talking about the nylon bush as found on the likes of some reflex such as the Predator 8 and T8. Jet z just screws on the barrel end as far as I am aware!! Anyway...other than £300 centrefire mods it does not seem too hopeful of getting anything effective to fit on a HMR!! Quote Link to post

SportingShooter 0
What mod is on your HMR Deker? I really don't think there is much difference between any of them! The crack will always be there, I have a SAK on mine and TBH, its not that bad at all. Once you have a few through it, its about as quiet as the others, unless you start thinking about it, and then of course, none of them will be good enough! SS Quote Link to post
woz 260
yes i agree that a jet z is far to much money for a hmr..i put one on mine because i had it knocking about...the diferance in silencing between a sak and a jet z are massive on hmr BUT you cant get rid of the super sonic crack and i wouldnt say the diferance is worth £270...but if im going out with the rifle which we do alot its the hmr thats first out of the cabinet..... SS Sirocco SM11 on the HMR..talked into it by a RFD who assured me it was the best you could get for the HMR yeh...right...fell for it again didn't I..the SAK is just as good if not better ... and a couple of quid cheaper! And the Whisper is a complete waste of £125!! Have tried a DM80 Hornet Moderator on the HMR and it is certinly an improvement..but not much!! Had a HOG on it to start with (A different RFD...it was good for the first few shots then I blew it up...NOT for the HMR this mod) Seems the HMR will remain a problem on the mod front..I accept the sonic boom but nothing seems to do much about the original cartridge crack either!!! SportingShooter 0
Stick to a SAK for now, you wont really get an awful lot of Audible difference with the HMR, especially if you have tried all of those above already! SS Quote Link to post
lgray88 4
i was pretty sure it was jet z he had, certainly not a predator 8 but yes i think its a nylon bush cut to what ever the thickness of the barrel is at the distance from the muzzle, it could be any mod though i aint 100% sure its completly black with a rough finish on the steel outer case and a knurled ring on the end about 3 mm thick which you can remove to clean it out measure around 8" long and 2" wide, what like are theses dm80 mods prices wise? where can i pick one up? liam Quote Link to post
jonher 0
Has any body tried one of the A-Tec moderators on a .17 HMR? I have been looking at these and would like to know how they perform! Quote Link to post
Guest Deerstalker
[The ATEC S i have seen have been very pour for the money you pay most of the cheaper mods do a far better job add that to a importer who cant be trusted you have got your self a product that has no depth. The small sac mod is the boy for the hmr if you want a moderator for a bigger rifle then i would recommend a jet,z or the new wild cat and nearly half the price of the ATEC Quote Link to post
jamie g 17
i have tryed sak,whisper,dm80,carbon mod. and the dm80 is the best to my ear and to the other 3 guys that was there that day. down range is the same but the blast at rifle the dm80 wins hands down. its much better then the sak and for anyone to say it isnt im surprized. the only way you can tell properly is shoot with one for abit then the dm80 and then after a bit go back to the sak and your tell the difference very easy. i havent anything to do with dm80 mods but just givening mo on the best mod. anyone that lives close to me is welcome to try them out Quote Link to post

The Jet z screws straight on the end of the barrel, it is not an over barrel mod and does not have the nylon bush!! Quote Link to post
