top terrierman 90 Posted October 8, 2008 Report Share Posted October 8, 2008 alrite.done a dig the other day with my old dog been noticeing lately its taken him longer to recover after each dig hes 6 now i know his not that old but his dug alot of foxs over the years foxs.foxs are hard on nose after a few seasons.im thinking now that its time to retire the old fallow and rest him up maybe give him a handy one now again.just wondern when is it time to rest them up get a pup or two out of them. Only you know when its time to retire the dog mate as you've presumably had him for six years so should be able to read him like a book. I take it its your red dog we're talking about? Not that a photo proves anything but he looks well worked and you put a topic up after a dig so I'm gathering he's seen a fair bit and more. Always handy to have an old trusty in the kennel. matt11 0 Posted October 8, 2008 Report Share Posted October 8, 2008 got a six year old lakeland myself,work him constantly.end of each season he looks a bit tired but soon recovers.my mate srill working a 10 year old russell,hell of a dog!now is a good time to breed out of him though.but most dogs are different had to retire my 8 year old black and tan last year,just could not do it any more.
