nice little dig today

Recommended Posts

well i got a call today from a mate that was out hunting foxes from cover they them flushed to hound (lurcher)

anyway i live in ireland where we can do this :whistling: ,they pushed a fox to ground and phoned me to dig it,so i said to jnr get the bar out we go for a dig, called to a mate who had two young terriers to try, and off we went, met up with the boy where there was two holes, i put in the dog i got from scent from here and up he went a start sounding left him 20mins or so but he never moved up much more so we dug there only to find the dog in a tight very very wet hole, he just could not get up any more as i looked i saw something move it was the back legs of a fox just out of reach of the dog it was so tight the fox could not get up i took hold of it leg and gave a pull stuck tight,we let in a mate young pup to see what he do he lock on for a bit as this was it's first fox it seen i took him away enough for today,

so we said we take it out and let it off for a lurcher to see would he do it on his own, as i held it leg while pulling i had to ues the bar to clear out the earth around it to get it free as it was weilded, i got it free gave a pull out it came i took it by the neck, out to the field wher it was drop down for a lurcher after two turns it was caught and kill in seconds so that was great to see a new young dogs first fox and kill solo, the waterford dog worked well in my book again as the holes were tight and wet but he still stay to be dug to,as we work away digging sounder jnr had the camera out snapping away, but when that was all over he put down the camera pick up the spade and back filled the hole, fairplay to him i say he is learning the important part,

now before anyone get all up in a knot over this post feck off :tongue2:

Can't complain at that Sounds.

And to see the Lad getting stuck in is great. Doesn't take him long to pick things up, sound lad, and I bet he had you in stiches half the time!

Even though I'm not a dog man :whistling: Good to see you getting the use out of them and getting some new dogs in behind them ;)

Glad you had a good day,

SS
