Is it possible to smoke out Rabbits

Recommended Posts

Hi all. I have read a couple of threads on the site talking about smoking out Rabbits. I have read on other sites that some people have been able to do it. I was thinking about trying the smoke pellett trick but I dont think it would generate enough smoke to get to all of the bunnies.....What if I dug down apx 2ft below the opening of a warren built a small fire with stuff like rubber etc really smelly horrible black smoke would be sent through the warren(With a lid of some kind sealing the top of the hole so that all smoke went down the Rabbit hole). If I did this for long enough with the holes blocked surely the whole warren would fill with smoke. If I then unblocked some of the holes would the Rabbits come out?

What do you do with the petrol/diesel mix? Poor it down the hole or soak rags in it ans ram them down the hole? Will it make the bolt or just vacate the warren.
drink it then lie by the hole an spark up a fag, :whistling: on a serious note it is easy to lay rabbits rough for a few days by putting anything smelly down the holes and blocking them, rabbits dont like bad smells,a good couple of days roughing can be had this way, :victory:

Im looking at getting a Ferret. Anyone in the Wrexham area got one for sale? The reason for so many questions is that I mainly shoot birds (Feathered kind) but one of my farms (Which I aint been to for a few years) is overrun with Bunnies. We shot 25 lamping the other night with my mates air rifle but want to get to the rest a.s.a.p. Ive never been Ferreting and it does sound like the best option. We would be planning to shoot the bunnies as they bolt.
