MK 1 8ft finder v MK 3

Recommended Posts

As a young lad I had a mk 1 8ft box finder and loved it till it died

Then went away from ferreting for a few years for one reason or another.

Then my two sons started to show an intrest so we got fixed up with a pair of jills, bought a ball of hemp, found all my old gear, taxed the old grey matter and made some nets, Then came the finder problem.

Managed to pick up a mk3 with coller for £70 and got on with it quite well!

So now at the start of the new season saw a mk1 with two micro collars for £35, Posted it when I did'nt mean to :wallbash:

So I bought it and now prefer it to the mk3.

What are your views on the two models?

Im sitting on the middle of the fence here, as I like both, to a degree, I got rid of my mk1 and got a mk3 plus 4 collars, but if a good mk1 box came along, I'd get that too, as they are good if working properly in picking up a mk3 collar,

Must have been in the right place at the right time sounds like  The mk3 came from a fella that could'nt get on with it.

The mk1 was in the local paper, that fella was giving up

One thing I noticed with the mk3, It seemed to me to be heavy on collar Batterys. Three sets per collar in a season @ £5.00 per set.

are you leaving them in the collar all the time?

you can get very good silver oxide batteries from e bay, think I payed around £12 for 50, this is the 2nd season Ive had them, and still half left

I don't leave them in the collars, I think I was stitched up with the price they seem to be better priced other places.
