Malt 379
1. Keep them seperate Excellent idea, would'nt it be great if more people thought of that. I agree, it's not rocket science is it? I think he was being sarcastic!! Meaning it was a pretty daft answer! If i could keep them seperate i would. To be perfectly honest, yes I think it was sarcastic, but not aimed at that answer, but at the people like yourself who have to ask stupid questions like you did, and more often than not come on here advertising unwanted litters of off accidental matings, trying to get top dollar advertising them as 'world beaters.' All you have to do is stop the dog shagging the bitch, simple. Like I said not rocket science is it? If you haven't got the facilities to keep your dogs apart at when the bitch is is season, it suggests a severe lack of foresight on your part.

You asked an opinion & I gave you mine, what's your problem? I wasn't going to mention this but you stated in an earlier post: She is well worth breeding when she is old enough. It is her first season mate. How the hell do you know if a dog is 'well worth' breeding from if they haven't done a few seasons graft? Did you mean well worth it because she's a nice colour or something?
skycat 6,174
[! simple answer to that is, they have never been in a house in there lives. They live out side mate. Well in that case it is even easier to keep them separate: garden shed/garage...the possibilities are endless!! Even if you only have one kennel and run, human ingenuity should enable you to sort something temporary out.

Yes, you have read it wrong, the guy asked if she is worth breeding, i said yes, but cant yet, as it is her first season. She is 12 months... The best time to breed a bitch is on the second is it not, correct me if i am wrong. It was with my bull breeds anyway. So how would they have a couple of seasons under there belt by the age of 18mths, i am lost now!!! AND HOW DO I KNOW SHE IS WORTH BREEDING! BECAUSE OF THIS MATE, IT HAS F..K ALL TO DO WITH THE COLOUR!!

Guest ESS
In days of old they used to rub somthing over her butt to stop the dog smelling her i think you can buy something like that out a pet shop , You know I was going to write chilli sauce as an answer to that one but on second thoughts someone would take that for gospel on here... ,The best answer is not to have a bitch and and a dog unless you got the time and inclination and the pennys to keep them separatate kennelled .i wouldnt have a dog and bitch kenneled together full stop.Done it once never noticed bitch in season never a big bleeder and hey hoy 8 pups fathered by 7 month male dog. Bad Husbandry on my part whilst altering kennels.... Edited August 28, 2008 by ESS
