We took the dogs and they were nailing rabbits left, right and centre on walks, which, i hate to say, is unusual. i have to admit i'd been thinking they werent up to much as they seldom catch in the day at home even though there is no lack of bunnies. Up north it was a whole different ball game, she was making it look easy! Obviously there are alot of different factors involved different cover, steep terrain etc but it just seemed like the rabbits were slower? What are your experiences? Quote Link to post

Either way, i was dead pleased as its done her confidence a world of good. The best bit is that my little sis has just married into a family that own a hill farm up there so if i play my cards right it could become a regular hunting holiday. REMEMBER ITS ONLY FECKIN AUGUST AND THE BUNNYS ARE STILL YOUNGSTERS AND AS GREEN AS GRASS .... MOST AINT SEEN AN ANGRY MAN !! ONCE THE SEASON STARTS ..... AS ITS STILL SUMMER !! .......... AND THE RABBITS ARE RUN A FEW TIMES .. THE BAGS WILL BE HARDER TO GET ....... THOUGH AS WILF HAS STATED , EASIER KILLS IN THE LONG GRASS , REEDS AND MOORLAND AREAS , EVEN THE BROWN HARE IS BESTED EASIER THAN NORMAL IN THESE SITUATIONS ALL THE BEST DUCKWING Quote Link to post

Going for walks with the new in laws and the dog is bringing rabbits back every five minutes , wasnt even like i could do anything with them as it wasnt really the time and place to be gutting bunnies and had nowhere to freeze them. Luckily they were happy to have a few less around so it wasnt really a problem. The JRT/whippet nearly had a pheasant out of the air too but missed by inches. Whereabouts you from SG? There is alot more woodland and cover at home though so maybe the dales terrain just suits the dogs better? Quote Link to post
