First Wood Pigeon

Recommended Posts

For some reason I have never managed to get close to a wood pigeon in the twenty odd years that I have been shooting air rifles. We have recently taken over a small field behind the house and cleared it and put goats on there. There are quite a few pigeons, crows and magpies coming in for the food and grubs etc and this evening I noticed a plump woody twenty yards from the fence, I went back to the house for my S410 TDR .22 and it was still there when I returned. I rested on the gate and nailed it with a head shot. Now the field is right in the middle of a housing estate and the seagulls and crows went mad on seeing the pigeon roll over.

I need to make a hide so I can sit there in wait for other birds to come in so I will be making one soon.

well done mate best when its the first ,did ya eat him ?

Sorry, forgot to mention that the misses fried up the breast with garlic and everyone loved it including our visitors. One of the visitors works on a farm and invited me up to shoot the pigeons and bunnies any time. So that's yet more permission I have, now I have three large farms, several quarries and a coastal strip of land that is crawling with bunnies. I don't have time to work with all that lot! Picture of the field below.

Yeah but I also have all this land plus two other farms to hunt on. If anyone ever wants to help me shoot it the offer is always open to all members.
