For f*cks sake: who gives a sh*t about this or that percentage! If the parents are working well then sod the fractions of this or that! Do you really think that people who have been breeding worker to worker for generations actually bother to work out the finer degrees of percentages? There is more instinct, experience and art in breeding good working dogs than the scientists will ever understand.

If you want a decent dog then go to a decent breeder with a good reputation and listen to them! I'll bet they don't start spouting on about percentages! Rant over LOL

skycat understand everything you say.iam breeding workers the dog iam using is very good working stock.the reason greyhound is going back is for getup and go.

i wasnt the one spouting about percentages i mearly want to call my pups 3/4 grey 1/4 collie as thats what they will be at the end of the day.i got asked the breeding of the sire and the dam to my dog and then was presented with people saying i was right in what i was saying with 3/4 1/4 collie but many moons ago their is a niggle of whippet and bull in their thats been coming out for years i basically shouldnt of mentioned that in the first instance.and iam certainly not ranting i no what iam after and i no what they will be .but then you get the people who want to pull the mix to peices over 1%whippet and 1%bull .my dog shows none of these in him if not too much collie as did all his litter mates.and will in the pups to the greyhound working bitch .i have bred dogs for many a year but not lurchers hence the reason the percentage was worked out by a few people.as they obviously no more thn me regards the mix of lurchers.

basically what should be adressed is that the breeding is.

dam to my working dog 5.8grey 3.8 beardie working

5.8grey 3.8 border working

my sire from above working

back to a greyhound working

as should be put back after so many generations tat i do no and my choice to breed this way and im breeding for my self not to go to reputable breeders you all slag of

As has been said already forget all this 1/32this and 1/32that pish. If you are happy that the parents are good enough to breed from and they are going to produce what you want/need in a lurcher then by all means go for it.

By the way 3/4.........5/32.......1/32...are not percentages they are fractions. 3/4 = 75% :)

If he's hit home best of luck with the future litter.

like you say, your breeding for yourself, therefore you know the charictor of the dogsyour breeding better than anyone else and what you want out of the next generation, looks to me its the next generation that you'l get good the brood bitch your after aswell as a good worker, kind of a base line for your line?,also that bitch will give you open options on which way to go from there if its your own line your after.and dont hesitate to line breed out of dogs you have that show the qualitys you want.or you could have a pup from my already well planed and continuing line for a small fee :thumbs-up:

thats right mate i no whats planed with this line, and not intrested in what everybody seems to think of adding up these numbers .i put the numbers their to watch the no it alls come from the wood work.and not somthing i was intrested in.also couldnt of worked that out if i tried. i go on the ability to ability.but as always they have theirs to a t yet go out and buy the pup from the breeders that have no intrest in bringing on a working line.at the end of it all you can bang lurcher to lurcher for so long then it needs throwing back to greyhound.its a fact. :victory:
