1 inch groups

Recommended Posts

hi just wondering all you guys who can shoot a 1 inch group at 30 yards? is this standing or in a prone/resting position?

I can get a 1 inch group when in prone and resting but when standing ill never get that, think i may need some diazapam to steady my hand lol or a pint before i go shooting.

I think ive got my breathing undercontrol but maybe its just practise that i need with my standing shots.

Any comments/tips welcome.

What you shooting with mate ? is it you with the tx ? If its a springer you should hold it loosley as its allows the recoil to be absorbed by you , whereas if you hold it tightly and try to stop it you will only make it worse . I would stand , legs slightly apart, and with the arm holding the fore end of your rifle bent and put your elbow into your side so as to steady your arm .Just keeping steady is the trick mate , and practise , bloody hell im crap at standing shots , but i dont worry too much as i dont often take em . atb Buster

Hi there mate,

Is your rifle and stock balanced to suit "you"- i mean to say, does it feel front heavy when its at the shoulder?

Mine did, until i balanced it to make standing shots much easier for me. Its not too dificult to do yourself really (it can't be can it - i managed to do it!?:laugh: ).

I admit that my rifle is now slightly heavier on the pick up than it used to be, but that weight dissappers when you get it to the shoulder, like? I thought i'd mention this to you as you said about being more steady when your doing standing shots, you see.

All the best,

Grim.

Click the link to download the British field target association technical skills manual. It's in PDF format, so it doesn't take long to download. There's plenty of useful info there for novices & experienced shooters alike. It covers basic stuff like shooting positions, breathing, etc, and other stuff besides.
