Guest ooty
Gavmac,i too was not looking for a slagging match but cmon challenge anybody with a hancock...whats that all about,as i said why not arrange a day out with a hancock owner and see if they live up to the hype you seem to put on them not any hancock owners...i think to challenge is a bit ott if your curious of these dogs capabilities, and anyway whats the challenge....general mouch on all quarry or a coursing dogs forte on good hares which nobody claimed hancocks dogs are top notch at anyway? If you want to persist going down the road of a challenge i think what would be more interesting is a match up with another 3/4 bred collie or 1/2 cross or even 3/8 to get a comparision of equal standing as much as who is breeding the best collie lurchers as afterall these are what hancocks dogs are....have you a collie lurcher then gavmac to have a geniune challenge or have you a wee plan to see the hancock fail....i wonder Hancocks dogs are from good blood and the reason this is true is because he still is as he has done for many a year now produced decent collie lurchers but where you were maybe coming from and i accept this,is the blood is not tested now, cheers already have,my mates got one.same age and size as the bitch in my aviator.even he'l tell you she wipes the floor with him in a big way everytime but his simply the sort of man that to his credt, wont pass a dog on,what his most likely to do is get himself a grey, bitch and see if he can breed himself somthing out the two of them, his dogs a 5 8th 3 8th beardy/boarder from tweedle dee so he'd still keep a bit of collie steadyness n staminer in there, theres no reason he shouldnt breed from the dog as pysicly he is a smart dog with nothing wrong, hunts up well using his nose, just lacks that final strike and a bit of drive i think as smashy said that extra bit of grey,h, could proudce that Edited August 18, 2008 by ooty Quote Link to post

bill88 6
F*ck me here we go again Some people must lay awake in bed at night worrying about Hancocks and his dogs. Gavmac what you are saying is spot on mate, but some folk like the look of Hancocks dogs, and others that are new to the game buy because they see the ad in CMW and he always seems to have a litter, even if the majority were shite, on numbers bred alone one or two good dogs will be produced.Having a "challenge" proves nothing, and i dont remember anyone stating that Hancocks dogs were "this or that".As i have said numerous times I WOULD NOT BUY A DOG FROM HANCOCK,but i took on a Hancocks bitch (now retired) after my brother split from his wife, and the dog did everything that was asked of her and more, and there are other forum members who will verify this.If someone took up the challenge and lost, what would it prove? Like i said worker to worker and proven blood is the way to go,but lets not slag and finger point the folk who have given David there hard earned..Rant over Quote Link to post

undisputed 1,664
Sort the big fanny out Undisputed........I dont think he gets out much so it show him what someone more real deal can do!! Thats plenty from you WILF and im not a big fanny ,Ive got feelings you no Gaz I said dont turn this into a slagging match its nothing to do with inflated egos or macho pish as you call it . Just a genuine challenge to someone with a Hancock dog and like I said in my post I will be the first one to congratulate the man if his dog does the business . IMO good blood is the first and foremost when breeding but the Hancock lads dont seem to think so . The arguements go on and on about this subject on here so the only way I can see to sort this out is to run a dog that IMO is not well bred against one of mine that has generations of true workers in there make up . A cage appears to be rattled, I'm in a no win situation here your dog wins your ego gets massaged a wee bit and you've proved what exactly? In order for you to prove your point you will have to run against every hancock owner in here but that aint gonna happen. But tell you what I'll oblige you on these conditions your dog has to be of the same breeding 3/4 grey 1/4 collie and stand at 23 inch and be a 3yr old bitch and like yourself I will require proof. You dont mention what quarry so I will, we'll do rabbits on the night purley because my dog is relatively inexperienced with bigger quarry at the moment Oh and I get to choose the ground as well....unless someone can come up with a neutral venue....so before this decends into a slagging match again stick to PM's and we'll sort out the finer details. Guest SJM
Why should it have to be of the same breeding? Surely a good dog is a good dog regardless of how its bred no? if you are confident in your dogs abilities then it shouldnt matter if his dogs a bull or an afghan cross. If your just out for rabbits then the playing field is equal as 99% of lurchers will take coney, so its not like hes got a bull x and is challenging you to the best of 5 foxes, or a saluki x and hes asking you to run 3 for a grand.....or am I missing something here? Both dogs of similar age cant say fairer than that Quote Link to post
