Coney 3
Me and old "goldenarms" were back out tonight on a mission to make up for our disappointing outing on Sunday so away we went around 6ish, got to our permission, parked up and away we went. It wasn't long before the shots started ringing out from all directions and some choice words because in the first hour we must have missed five between us. We decided to split up and try our hand's at either end of the permission so as I turned I saw "goldenarms" disappearing over the nearest hill so I headed towards the pond's. On reaching the pond's I crept around a large Hawthorn hedge row to see two decent sized rabbit's basking in the late evening sun around 30 yards up a steep incline, I settled down to take a shot from a sitting position, lifted the rifle and by the time I got the scope up to my eye one had disappeared so I took a hasty shot at the one that was left and down it went...unfortunately it rolled down the incline into some thick fecking nettles. Not wanting to leave empty handed I started swatting the nettles with a long stick and after 20 mins I managed to find my quarry, pleased with the result into the game bag it went. I headed for the gravel beds where I came across "goldenarms" carrying a nice sized rabbit to his credit, a quick chat and then off to the river we both headed. We decided to cover both the high/low ground to the river through the quarry so by the time I reached the lower side of the quarry I noticed my old pal was walking up with his second...2-1 to him. Walking down through the quarry to the river we spotted a rabbit about 25 yards down the river embankment sitting up on it's back legs having a cheeky peek around....a split second later I had let rip a well placed shot that sent it sprawling down onto some rocks...2-2 and I am afraid that's how it ended....we got back to the car just after 9ish with 4 to our credit and another enjoyable trip under our belts.....enjoy the pic's people. Keep it real Coney. Quote Link to post
