BlueCoyote 0
i only drive once every blue moon.... so that would be a big fat NO coming from me..... but perhaps i should get my husband to teach me how ... just in case it should ever happen. I married a mechanic so i take him for granted i guess lol when i do drive i make him check everything before i leave - and my destinations are usually within walking distance of my house - grocery store, river, gas station, family.... Missie 1
I can change a tyre but thankfully so far i've not had too. A friend taught me years ago, long before I could drive as we got a flat on the way home from work one day.
Kay 3,709
I dont drive so have never had the opertunity , but i think its probably a good idea to at least know how to do it if you have to , i am not supprised that some of the blokes thought it was funny to see a woman changing a tyre
Guest SJM
I know how to do it as I have been with a few mates when they have had flats, but have never had to change one (yet) no doubt my time will come, one of my tyres always seems to need blown up every week so I think I maybe have a slow puncture As for the guys not helping well I guess the instinct to look at a womans arse when she is bending over will over-ride the instinct to come to her rescue Edited July 23, 2008 by SJM
huntergatherer 0
i have had 3 blowouts in a year, and in the middle of nowhere! so you need to be able to do it, if a guy did stop and help i would certainly let them gentleman are a rarerity nowadays. My local college paid me for one academic year, for all women, to do a years basic mechanic course, best thing i ever did. Only 3 of us achieved it though. Really handy for when you breakdown, buyin a new car or taking it to the garage. One problem though, i have a disco so being 4ft 11" i have to use a stool to work on the engine!
