silver mitts????

ive heard of silver mitt ferrets and looked them up on google.

im just wondering what colour ferrets you have to breed together, a white ferret with a pole cat?

or are silver mitts a pure like abino whites.

All mitt means basically is they have white toes or part white feet , white bib sometimes a white dot on the head & sometimes white patches on the inside of the back legs , they can be any colour other than albino

mitts can crop up in all sorts off litters regardless of the colour the parents are

One of the jills i kept from my litter is a silver mitt.Wee cracker she is.I will post a cpl pix sometime.She was breed from to poleys.

i got 2 silverhobs but the guy i got them from bred the silver from a silver hob and albino jill he has 8 albinos and 1 silver so he kept a albino and a silver so he had 2 silver hobs and 2 albino jills.

Differnt colours can and do pop up in litter because even if your breeding two albino's who is to say there pure,there could be and often is polecat or sandy blood in there back ground .UNLESS YOU HAVE BREED YOUR OWN STRAIN FOR YEARS AND KEPT IT PURE .So breeding for colour could be a waste of time as anything could turn up

which shows why you should keep records of your breeding programme, its then only when an unknown outcross is brought in, that you cant be sure, our sandie hob outcross (unknown parentage) was paired to a polecat jill, bred from a silver and albino

Using my B.E.W. hob the colours are all over the place i never usually have anybother giving his kitts away

The four silver kits I got this year all had mitts. Parents are a silver and sandy. The silvers parents were silver and sandy but I don't know the sandy hobs parentage.
