mk1 for a mk3??

Recommended Posts

probably. I am doing fine without at the moment. The hedges around my place are all to hard to dig into. And unless you are on top of the hedge then you wouldnt be able to use a locator

why cant you just use it "sideways" it will give you an indication where the ferret is, and indeed, if it is still in the burrow.

I've packed ferreting in now, but if i were ever to get back into it, i wouldnt drop a ferret in a burrow without a locater collar on.

I dont see the point in paying for one and not being able t use it very well. After all they never used to use them

yeah, & people never use to have cars !

For me technology is taking a lot of the fun and fieldcraft out of hunting nowadays. The organic skills are being overshadowed by reliance on commercial gadgetry. Some people feel under_equipped if they hav'nt the newest ferret locater, latest radio controlled bait -boat ,best night vision optics etc etc. To each his own . Think what I'm getting round to saying is that for me a Mk3 even when it is working properly tends to overshadow the simple pastime of catching rabbits with ferret net and dog.Too many switches ,light displays and 1950's Sci-fi noises . A Mk 1 is a basic piece of back-up equipment that isn't ,in my veiw too intrusive whist remaining an effective bit of gear. To be honest ,if you are having trouble using a Mk1 you're not going to be able to work out a Mk3.All the best .
