Malt 379
Maybe It died & the mother started to eat it? I'm not very experienced, but 4 1/2 weeks sounds quite old for a kit so be killed & eaten. Quote Link to post
Kay 3,709
Isnt it a shock when you find one like that , have never experienced it with kits but i have found several adult ferrets half eaten over the yrs, no idea if they do it , except maybe culling the sickly animals , the ferrets i found were all aged and i knoew i probably wouldnt get another 6 months out of them , still very shocking to see it though Quote Link to post
The one 8,592
That does sound a bit old to be killed perhaps it died and the jills just trying to cleanup??? Does the jill still have milk?? but at that age they should be eating meat so why did it die???? Its up to you if you think the jills a threat to the rest of the kitts take her away and try them on some rabbit ,but they should be nearly able to totally fend for them selves by now. pikey2983 2
is it ok to take them all away at the same time or should i take them away 2 at a time? and should i take them away from her or her away from them? Quote Link to post
stubby 175
your probably think its a silly question, but are they getting enogh food Quote Link to post

The one 8,592
If your going to take them away you would be as well taking them all away .Ive only got three kitts with a jill and i was giving them half a rabbit a night last night i pop in a full rabbit and its all gone .Take them away and give them plenty grub you can always remove whats left to stop it going off then you will have a good idea what amount there eating Quote Link to post
pikey2983 2
ok cheers for that i will split them up when i get home and give them a good scran Quote Link to post
Kay 3,709
as a general rule put more food in for them than they can eat , if theres none left after each sitting , put some extra in next time untill you are geting a small amount left after each feed & they should be getting enough then Quote Link to post
