BlueCoyote 0
would there be a chance of the fleas or ticks catching a free ride home if you dont field dress it?
The one 8,597
When we go out lamping and finish 4amish im guilty of leaving the rabbits in plastic boxes till i gut them the next day and there still covered with fleas
stubby 175
we gut in the field, but leave them in their skins, on getting home, their feet are chopped off (easier to fit in freezer) rabbits already frozen are removed from the freezer, the newly caught are placed at the bottom, and frozen ones on top, that way, rabbits used each day (ferret food) have been frozen for at least a week, if not more, any used for the table, have been frozen too, thus no flea's

Guest little_lloyd
If im lamping with my dog i will gut in the feild,, as it saves bringing the shite home with you and leave the bugger in the grage over night, then skin and prepare in the morning,, same when im out during the day aswell. comanche 3,300
AS everone says if you let the rabbits cool the fleas drop off . Out of interest rabbit fleas favour the spot by the ears and tend not to move much once they have taken a feeding hold .So if the ear area is free of fleas it is unlikely that there are many if any on the rest of the body. So ,I'm an anorak!
The one 8,597
we gut in the field, but leave them in their skins, on getting home, their feet are chopped off (easier to fit in freezer) rabbits already frozen are removed from the freezer, the newly caught are placed at the bottom, and frozen ones on top, that way, rabbits used each day (ferret food) have been frozen for at least a week, if not more, any used for the table, have been frozen too, thus no flea's I tried that and i couldnt get the rabbits back in the freezer now i just put them on top of the rabbits already there .bloody laugh now but i ended up with a frozen tower of pissa of bloody rabbits
