Guest WILF
The country is great as are about 75% of the population........but society has lost its way, the lunatics have taken over the asylum. We need to regress the whole country about 60 years and start again, when folk had respect for each other and nutters got hanged instead of helped. When it was legal to smoke a ciggie and illegal to bugger a lad. I saw on the news the other day that one of out ethnic brothers had seen fit to shoot an inocent person who they suspected may have known something about a gold chain that they lost...........he got 25 years, WHY?..............what is the use in some one like that being alive! I would also make parents pay the penalty for the crimes and behaviour of there children......... There is something to be going on with..........

mattydski 560
Heres my say on the immigrant issue and other related topics. Until recently i had upwards of 70 working for me, we had restructuring of our customer base for various different reasons, but thats for another post entitled "I hate supermarkets". When the time came to pay off the foreign workers, it had to rate as one of the saddist days of my working life. All, but none them, understood the situation, and because of our honesty with them all, they ended up bringing gifts in to the office to thank us for their time working for us. I ended up in tears in the back of the office, having lost some of my closest freinds..... However, when in Rome, do as the Romans do. I travel with work alot, and the first thing I ensure before visiting a foreign country, is that i am aware of the etiquette, and culture so as not to offend anyone, or risk getting in to trouble. If the country has religeous beliefs against alcohol or eating certain animals, do I walk in to the nearest resturant and ask for Saussages in ale casserole? No... So my point is this. If you come to my country, respect it, embrace its culture and enjoy it, for what it is. You are welocme. But dont turn up, say my kids cant do a nativity play in school in case it offends anyone, and discuss plans for building your next Mosque with Tax payers money!! If i go to france on holiday, I make sure I make the effort to speak french. It earns respect and breaks barriers, as they role around on the floor laughing at my feable attempt to ask where the toilet is, only to given 3 pints of milk. So if you come to our country, dont expect every benefit application form to be in every bloody language apart from english, in fact dont expect benefits. You should come preparred to work. You will be well treated, (by me anyway) and enjoy our country. If anyone realy want to rile me start the " I hate Supermarkets " thread, light blue touch paper and retire. I really embrace all cultures, i love working abroad, I am just back from The Ukraine. One of the best trips of my working life. Lovely people, great culture and i am looking forward to return. speedlamper 0
nicley put matty, my boss is from iran and is prob the best boss i've ever had and the hardest worker i've ever met! how many people on here can say they've done atleast 8hours a day every day for the last year and not just for the money? probably none he brought a few lads over from iran for a holiday and all they wanted to do was learn the english language, they were fascinated by it, some of the old phrases we use 'dont put all your eggs in one basket ect ect' and yet this last time year we could have of been at war with them to after the goverment claimed they had nuclear weapons but neglecting to mention iran have signed the same treaty as the u.s and u.k that allow them to do such things slightly off topic but had me in stitches in for days... last job i had noticed one of the poles had a brew on the shop floor, just quietly said to him "sorry mate your not allowed coffee on the shop floor, he turned round and said its ok its hot chocolate" feckin brill
Guest foxyjo.
I'm a ashamed to admit that I know very little about immigrants. But it seems to me, some of these foreigners are keener to work than our own people. Why is it acceptable, in our country, to sit on your arse and do absolutely nothing to help yourself or anyone else? I have seen them on TV - when I relent and switch the thing on - "I ain't doing that". They wouldn't dream of doing something that wasn't glamourous enough. Sit on your backside and wait for fame seems to be the order of the day. A bin man, a supermarket worker, a road sweeper, a cleaner, they are all doing their bit to support themselves and their families and deserve respect. It is those twats, in their baseball caps and tracksuits, lounging on the stage of Jeremy Kyle and the like, talking like some ghetto gangster, about what they will and won't accept as work!!!!! Utterley amazing! They have no shame. It is embarressing to think, as a nation, we have become so lazy, and smug, with handouts and yob culture, we have to employ outsiders to do the jobs our own people turn down. Where has self respect gone??? The satisfaction in doing a hard days work??? Having said that, I agree wholeheartedly with Mattywhatsit, about if you go to work in another country you shoud respect their laws and culture and try to fit in with them. Not as we seem to have in this country, whereby, it is acceptable to slaughter a goat in the street in Birmingham....but not for your child to take part in a nativity play??? Very odd. My feelings over the war in the east are mixed. I HATE that we seem to have become puppets for the U.S. We would not be out there if it wasn't for their interest in the oil fields, and I do not accept that this is a war intended to free people from a tyranny state. If so, why the hell haven't we sorted out Zimbabwee years ago???? I prefer a United Kingdom that goes to war for honest and brave reasons. I also have to agree with Speedlamper from the other topic - that there are many questions that do not have answers regarding the 9/11 bombings. That is the only thing he has said so far that I could agree with, because, whilst I may not be sure what we ARE doing in Iraq and Afghanistan, I wish the safe return of all of our lads and lasses out there, wish them the very best of luck and hope they come home safely. And regards paying taxes etc......we all do that. My topic was intended to ask people to think about the many many servicemen who need rehabilitation and support on their return home due to injury. I know they never had it in the other wars, (the 1st and 2nd), and they had to just "get on with it" and I have no end of respect for those that did. But if we can help make life just a little more bearable then what is the harm, and how on earth can you begrudge them that? It has bloody amazed me some of the shite that has been spouted on that thread. "It's not my problem..." "I pay taxes..." "They signed up for it..." If they don't want to give, why say such cruel and ungrateful things? Why not just leave alone? The price of a pint in sponsorship - not £5, or £10 even - the price of a f*****g pint.... some of them are so damn cock sure of their own self worth and their right to a place on this earth-our country-which is and has been, so bravely fought for, that they wouldn't buy a kid - cos the majority are little more - with his legs shot away........ONE f*****g BLOODY PINT!!!!!!!! dear lord...............................................................what a thing to admit to. mattydski 560
All, you may be aware of this, we are the only country that has the technology to be able to pinpoint a motorist who has no car tax, no mot or no insurance. For this heanous crime, which could have resulted from an administritive error, you will be put through the court system and suitably punished, with up to 5 years in Jail, i'm told. However, we do not have the technology to monitor the influx of immigrants, the whereabouts of offenders on the run from low security jails, or the rights to know where child sex offenders live. The police are set targets for crime reduction (allegedly) which detracts from their real role in crime prevention and apprehending serious criminals. A story I heard the other day is as follows:- A responsible tyre fitter in scotland was called out to a motorway incident to help a lorry driver in distress. He was immediately aware of the serious risk the broken down lorry was to motorists in the position it had been parked. A quick call to Forfar police got one of the road policing units immediately, who parked down the road with flashing lights blazing. When a temporary repair had been made the tyre fitter walked down the hard sholder to the police car to thank them for their immediate response. The policeman, asked him to drive to the next laybye to have a chat. Not thinking anything about it, he did as he was asked. The policemen followed, pulled in behind the tyre fitter, put on the flashing lights and called the tyre fitter in to the back of his car. His first comment was" Do you like breaking the law sir?" to which the tyre fitter responded bemused. He then went to say " Are you aware that it is illegal not to show a no-smoking sign in a company vehicle?" and promptly wrote out a ticket. However i have to say, i have never had any problems with my local police, as they have always been most helpful in anything i have had course to deal with them about. One of many i'm sure Edited June 14, 2008 by mattydski

dytkos 17,917
Not sure about the civil/criminal aspect of the story, but it came from a reliable, mature source.Matt When it boils down to it, regardless of race, colour or creed, a good person is a good person and an assehole is an assehole whether they are police, immigrants, people in your local or your neighbours etc etc. The old phrase "Don't judge a book by it's cover" is something I learned many years ago..
