Another successful Scottish trip

Recommended Posts

Me and David travelled to my ground in the Scottish Borders yesterday afternoon arriving about 6.30pm , so it was straight out with the rifles to see what was skulking about.

We decided to lay up watching onto a gorse patch hoping for any foxes or roebucks to be on the move...........

David lying in wait .............

For some reason I looked behind us and spotted a fox that had just come out of the gorse , it was standing still with its head in the ground , so I spun round and released a 100 grn softpoint , the fox just casually walked away into the gorse and I was cursing that Id missed :censored:

David said we should go and look for signs of blood but I was very doubtful as there was no reaction to the shot at all .............................anyway when we checked the area we found the scrawny vixen was lying stone dead ..............she had been eating a pheasant egg........I was so relieved that I hadnt missed :icon_redface:

We then set off back up the valley when David spotted a young buck crossing from some forestry to a gorse covered gulley. He quickly dropped to the ground and pulled off a cracking shot at approx 300 yards !!

As he went to retrieve his prize I waited behind , only to look behind me and spot another fox crossing the field , I gave him a shout and dropped another vixen ....................can you believe it ??

Then it was off to bed with an early start , which produced another 2 yearling bucks. Another cracking trip mate , long may it continue......

While we were walking up the side of the river we saw a lot of footprints from what I think is otter ...........can any experts confirm this please !!

Good going lads :) Cracking bit of land that looks like, too.

And you've answered my 243 ammo question :) Although with 58gr Vmax they never run (or even stroll off casually!!), the 100gr is cheaper and better on the deer so I shall be trying some ASAP.
