chewing dogs

Recommended Posts

Hi does anybody know of anything that can stop adog from chewing in the bac garden where it lives. It is chewing all the wires on the wall etc. I heard there was a spray, is this true, and if so does anybody know the name or where i could purchase some please?

Anything you put on would wash off in the rain ... but you could try some really hot spices. Bit harsh but it'll do the trick. Or, wrap some aluminium foil over the wires, most of them don't like chewing foil. I've also used a medium tack double sided tape in the past - unpleasant for them, but stops them  Or, you could hide out, wait for the dog to start chewing, and then correct the behaviour. That might take a while tho

Its boredom, give it some beef bones or a hard rubber ball or a old tyre to have a go at. :victory:

BIRD

Thanks Bird, i guess it is boredom, yet she gets walked on average, 3 to 5 miles aday, plus has another lurcher in the yard to play with. She does have bones and i have just got her some sqeeky toys. I get the feeling that the other lurcher might be bossing her, and she doesnt like it.....

Ummm...don't know about dogs but you can buy some filthy smelling stuff from the saddlers to stop horses chewing. crib stop, I think it's called. Now I haven't used it stop a dog chewing, but it really offended my old GSD!! Creosote can stop a dog sometimes, but as for what to put on wire.....I'd be stumped!!!!

This stuff works a treat, it's like a thick grease full of chillies and stuff( won't wash off in the rain) stopped my dogs chewing the kennels.

bear with it mate buy it some nice bones to get its attention ....

if fails id jet some water in its face out the window every time it does it...

but to be honest it is bordom and perhaps letting the dog have the run of the yard and able to follow yourself round the house will keep it occupied enough my dog chews when i leave her in the yard but if i let her follow me from room to room lying there watching me shes more content and dosent think about chewing!ALL DOGS ARE DIFFERENT THIS WORKS FOR ME PAL...i just would want my house or garden stinking like a kabab shop..... :D

Thanks, but i would never let my dog, or any of my dogs wonder around the house,(only in the conservatory on there bean bags, after a good days hunting) they dont even want to come in side as they have never been aloud. In my opionion a dogs place is outside in its run or on the moors on the run...

I include a picture of one of my dog runs......
