I've had several instances of deer being spooked, running off a short distance, then stopping and looking back. Fallow seem particularly prone to doing it. Best wishes MM If they do stop ,throw yourself flat on the ground .If they are in a herd fallow will often turn to face you&come back for a look .Bit like dressing in wolf-skin to get in bow range.It's how I got this pic(without the wolf -skin or bow).
