you guys do seem to give some pretty funny advise good but funny working ferrets dont usually get rushed of to the vets when they split there nales its a mutual agreement we look after them they catch us some food i wood take a ferret to the vest but it wood be a last resort if a jill of mine hadent dropped on her own why continue with her genes it seems cruel but its the way take a jill out of her that might not drop her younge ?

nature usually looks after its self on the odd occasion we need to interfere ,you have to give time and observe and not to breed from the jill again just she had a difficult birth is stupid if its her first litter things like this can happen

why why why why!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

do people come on here critise other people not offer them advice but simply pee them. is there any need. ???

i agree why bother going onto a site just to say something bad and not offer any advise

no mate, think someone else made that comment, and as I didnt know if that was possible, i therefore could'ent disagree either

we had discussed it only as .. is this possible...

after some thinking and talking things over with my DH... we thought about dogs

the bitch can get pregnant from different dogs at different times..

but she still has the litter at the same time roughly... so its probably not the same thing... if you are concerned get her to the VET!

Now theres something..what I will do from now on is mate my lurcher to a greyhound which will give me 3/4 greyhound..and two or three days after that I will use a Saluki..so the other half of the litter will be 3/4 Saluki...no longer a need to keep any more than one bitch...I somehow dont think so..please tell me you are joking !!

Money shouldnt come into it, your ferret only has you to look out for her!!!

and if you cant afford her..........................................i dont need to finish that do i :(

AND.....comments like that on a hunting forum give workers a bad name! breeding a jill then not being prepared to take care of her cause of money!

jojo, all your posts that Ive read so far, seem to be critasing, some of our members, are young lads or lasses that own ferrets, if you keep WORKING FERRETS, you dont need money coming out of your ears, the ferret catches what it eats, most aliments can be remedied at home, through posting questions on here, so, just because owners arn't rushing out to a vets, dos'ent mean they should'ent keep ferts, Id suggest you get down from your high horse, either offer good advice, or not, maybe even just stay on the pet ferret sites

That must surely be the kettle calling the frying pan..

Look mate, there was nothing wrong with her right through the whole pregnancy, birth and theres nothing wrong with her now. So why the hell would i take her to the vets if there was nothing wrong with her?

What are you on about mate...you know NOW there is nothing wrong with her..at least you HOPE there is nothing wrong with her...but you would'nt have posted in the first place if you thought she was ok..thats the point..and...you aint necessarily out of the woods yet...

Asking advice on here is one thing..and I am sure there are plenty who can help sort a few things out..but in regards to the health and welfare of the animals you keep..the buck stops with yourself..its your duty and responsibility..yes...vets are licensed to print money..but to deny any animal in your care the attention it needs and deserves mate is wanton neglectful cruelty..now dare I say this on a hunting forum..yes..because thats what it f*****g well is..

And further..nature taking its course etc is total bollocks...we aint talking about nature here..nature is in the wild in case some have forgotton..so nature it is'nt..what it is is an animal kept in a cage which relies on its owner...not nature..to feed it and to take care of it..and sometimes whether we like it or not that costs money..

O.K firstly, i see what your saying, what i meant to say is there was nothing visibly wrong with her and i posted this to ASK if its normal for ferrets to have births spread out over a few days so theres your toys back in your pram :tongue2:

Well i have some bad news now anyway, jazz 11 PM'd me to ask for some ferrets from me from the litter talked about here, to wich i welcomed greatly as theres 1 good home for a few ofthem to go to :D

But then i sent him a pm beacause 3 out of the 6 in the litter died  for some reason?

Then, this morning i went dow and had another quick peek while the jill was having her breakfast and very sadly the rest of the kits had died :(

Im really stumped and gutted as the parents were good workers and i was looking forward to a fresh stock of workers and so was jazz 11.

Anyone, any ideas?

Really sorry jazz 11 but ive just bred the same hob with another working jill so you are welcome to have a few kits from me then and i really hope that jill has a more sucsessfull litter.

Luke.

so all the kits are dead? and the hob has been used again to breed another litter?

one presumes i will be accused of nastiness again, but its not the brightest plan is it?

well i had no idea that a hob determines the survival off the kits to adult hood, how does that work then :hmm:

Ok, well if you breed a litter and they all drop dead, you dont use the same parents again, incase its genetic :notworthy:

its the same hob  i am not going to argue with you Kay, ask any reputable breeder, they wouldnt use a hob to breed from if all his kits dropped dead once before
