Question time...

Is it possible to just use purse nets? I don't know how to set a long net and no one to teach me, my dog is an 11 year old collie x and can't catch rabbits if he did he wouldn't bring them back he's just a pet. Do you reckon I will have much success or do I need to get a crash course in long netting?

Rhodey; What ye have to realise is that, even just ten years ago, hardly Any f*cker was ferreting to long nets. The damn things were so shrouded in an air of mystery and there just weren't enough who truly knew how to use them to go round.

Then there seems to have been an explosion of some sort and now, as ye seeing, the Non ownership of a long net appears to be the exception. Viva the internet, in that respect, I s'pose?

Anyway, while ye looking out for a mentor, why not get onto Google and find yeself a copy of a book called " The Ferret and Ferreting Guide " by Graham Welstead. It's available second hand for under a tenner and is a mini classic. Reading that'll prime ye up nicely on all aspects of the game ;)

Ferreting ain't rocket science. It's simple and based on pure logic. Get yourself the plummer book on ferrets, that'll give you the basics. It's just then for you to work things out for yourself. You really, really can't go wrong

We mainly use purse nets and only use the long nets on one piece of ground ,you just need to be a bit more quieter walking over the berry putting nets on the holes but they pick up the hole hoppers that the longnets dont
