SNAP SHOT 194
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The current record for longest range sniper kill is 2,430 metres (7,972 ft), accomplished by a Canadian sniper, of the third battalion Princess Patricia's Canadian Light Infantry (3 PPCLI), during the invasion of Afghanistan, using a .50 BMG (12.7 mm) McMillan bolt-action rifle. That's some shot he broke Carlos Hathcocks record for the longest range sniper kill. I was reading about this shot and it said that the round had a flight time of four seconds, and a drop of 44.5 m (146 ft). Like I was saying before amazing shot and so was Carlos Hahcocks shot achieved during ,achieved during the Vietnam War, at a distance of 2,250 m. Two excellent shots and two excellent snipers. copied this from another forum. is this not truely amazing bullet drop of 146 feet, Quote Link to post

SNAP SHOT 194
bet it wasnt with a hmr ! well jamie following your observation i went to my ballsitics program, and it wouldn't log the shot but it did manage to get to 1050yards, 1607 yards roughly short of the said distance, the ballistics are a drop of 905.37 inches or roughly 75 feet with an energy left of 24 ft/lbs i think it would hardly do much damage............................. Guest Ditch_Shitter
That's barely comprehensible, is it? I mean; It's like he must have been aiming at the top of a hill to hit some c*** at the bottom of the hill!!! Jesus f*ckin wept! How in hell did he even manage to discern his target at that sort of range anyway? I wonder what scope he was using? That's just Awesome! Quote Link to post

FJager 0
The Yank heirachy tried to award him a medal, but the Kanook powers that be said they don't really encourage glorifying this type of thing. Quote Link to post
garyw 0
as jager says.the canadien govt.says its soldiers dont kill or use the word kill.so the bronze star given to non u.s.a. combatants was put on hold to the two teams of snipers that were helping us. forces. the same corporal who shot the enemy sniper at over 2400mts actually killed a enemy sniper in a tree at 1700mts with one shot and didnt use a range finder .the scopes they were using are the nightforce 5.5x22nxs they ran out of elevation for the long shot and used his spotter to guide him to the target it took 3 shots but got his intended. wouldnt you think the enemy would get out of there asap.they probably thought they wont hit us at this distance. the rifles as some have pointed out are the mcmillan-tac 50.bmg with lilja barrels and nightforce 5.5x22nxs.scopes.some kit eh! SNAP SHOT 194
SORRY gary but where did you read it was nightforce used, and the target turrets in the documentary look like the leupold m1 type to me. just an observation. Quote Link to post
TOMO 27,459
im a bit thik with all this technicle stuff, but did the sniper put the crosshairs on the target, and the scope was ajusted to alow for the drop. or did he actualy aim high, as ditch said at the top of a hill type thing Quote Link to post
SNAP SHOT 194
Canadain's use leupold 16 power scopes, but mc millian endorse the nightforce nxs. So it was a leupold that the shot was taken with. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/McMillan_TAC-50 Just wanted to find out what scope was used, nothing personal gary, Some fooking shot with a x16 power scope. To reply to your question tomo,he elevated the scope to its max adjustment, dialing up on the turrets if you will and probaly using the mil dots too, then held over, a rough guess if you will the the spotter giuded his shot in, not that he was far of with the first shot.
