Mr_Logic 5
Got my ticket at last So in true style off to the gunshop. Got a 243, a Titan 6 with stainless and wood, and an ASE mod (Deker, just like yours, thankfully though there is a bit more weight in the stock so the balance isn't quite as screwed!). 140 rounds of 58gr plastic tip ammo, and I've put my MTC 6-24 on there for the time being. Jamie G - should you read this - I part exed the Sako I'm afraid as it was a straight swap on the Titan and that was better than my previous best offer by quite a bit. Also got another Hornet, a Brno CZ527, 1990 vintage. All very tidy, except, I found out when I got in, the mag doesn't fit. Goes in, but not far enough to seat properly. Difference isn't huge and I can't be arsed faffing about so tomorrow I am off to get a metal file, and take off the 2 or so mm on the notch on the magazine. That should allow it to click into place, and I took it apart to verify it feeds when the mag is high enough up, and all is well. Annoying though!! The set trigger is nice, wood in decent enough nick (bar two scuffs) and the barrel and crown are also good. And while I was there I picked up a Lightforce lamp as well, since everyone raves on about them I thought I'd give them a go. Battery pack I also got is bigger so if it comes to it, I can just use my old lamp with the bigger battery (thus meaning I don't run out of juice like t'other night). Did think about the 223 as well, but couldn't afford it. Might say sod it if I can't get the magazine sorted mind!! Quote Link to post

Mr_Logic 5
well, zeroed the rifles, 243 at 100 for now and Hornet at 50-odd, since the weather was such a horrid wind today, I played it safe. 243 did group 1.5 inches at 200 yards, so I'm happy with that. Still gotta sort the Hornet's mag, today was single shot use. Woz - I can't get it to click into the mag housing, I've stripped and reassembled the rifle, but the metal protrusions on the mag, stopping it from going in too far, actually stop it going in at all. The file should remove half the front one, and that should do it I think. it's close - the bolt touches the case of the round, but not enough to push it forward. That couple of mm should do it, at least I hope it does or I shall be miffed, it was shooting pretty well today. Quote Link to post
Mr_Logic 5
A bit of filing later, magazine now stays in rifle and works acceptably well (i.e. it's not quite right but it works) hoorah Quote Link to post
