Mr_Logic 5
I went out rabbiting yesterday, having changed scopes around on my rifles, to try and get to the bottom of the Hornet missing things. Took the 22LR and Hornet, started out with the 22LR. Had one bunny first up, and then came across a fox. She wasn't lamp shy in the slightest, I lit her up for ages, thinking that I didn't have a good shot but since she wasn't bothered I would keep an eye out. Ended up pottering about and coming a bit closer, and then she lined up perfectly - head down, so if the bullet missed the back of the skull it would be through the neck and into the chest. So... dump... thud. No more movement. I chucked her over a fence to find somewhere more appropriate for disposal, but I had to go around to get back to her. On my way up, more orange eyes. So I snuck up quietly to within about 70 yards, whacked the lamp on again, still there. I thought at first it was the eyes of the first fox, but no way. Dog fox sat on some straw. Not such an easy shot, and the bullet went a bit lower than I thought, straight up through the nose and into the skull, took maybe 5 seconds before he was completely still. 2 foxes within half an hour, with a 22LR, not bad going And people say it's not up to the job. Apologies for the rubbish picture, you can just about make out what's going on. Then the frustration set in. The bunnies were about 100 yards thereafter all the time, so I got bored and got the Hornet out. It accounted for at least 3 more, but I think it may have been more. it's frustrating because the softpoints really do bugger-all expansion, and I missed loads (11 shots fired, 3 hits, 1 missed fox). maybe the rounds aren't always working, and maybe I missed some, but all those were shots that came out right, at the right range, all were targeted head or chest shots. So I still have work to do to fix it, and I only have 30 bullets left now But the earlier part of the evening meant it was a good one overall... Edited March 19, 2008 by Mr_Logic Quote Link to post

I would use it all the time if it had a moderator on there. My ticket is back tomorrow (going to get it from TVP HQ) so then I am moving on the 223. Part of that is the sale/part ex of the Sako, so I guess your police force's additional delays might hamper things... Quote Link to post

James@Scarborough 0
Don't sell your gear mate, move to North Yorks. I just got my latest variation back today. I only posted it last tuesday evening. The previous one took about 3 days. Quote Link to post

I only posted it last tuesday evening. The previous one took about 3 days. Boy, am I jealous. Down here we have to pre-empt our thoughts so the paperwork is ready. Hence why I am always worrying about the what-ifs, because if you're wrong it will take 3 months to change anything. 3 days is soooo good. for example, I wouldn't have the quad on this variation if it weren't for that reason. And then I will have to either write my current rifle back on, or buy a quad for £600-£700 in 2 months. Very annoying!! Quote Link to post
