As was driving down a fen road near Boston Lincs early this morning,i saw a dead hare on the grass verge,it did,nt seem bashed about so i stopped to pick it up,when i looked closer ,i saw she was wearing a snare, which had been snapped or bitten. over the years i have ferreted three rabbits with broken snares round there necks and two years ago i snared one that had a snare on it

Have you ever had this then........?

Checking the wires one morning i found a snare cord chewed through and the rabbit gone. Two wires further up was a rabbit snared with the missing wire around its neck...........AND ON THE SAME DAY...believe it or not........i had two rabbits in one snare. One was held by the neck having been caught normally and the second had got the same wire somehow looped and twisted around its belly.

The two in the same snare, could it have been a buck and a doe,the doe gets caught and the male does what a male rabbit does and gets itself tangled up,just a thought :hmm:

In the early 60s my granpa and me were having a drink with two old long netters, they were both great fellows with loads of tales, the talk got round to the size of rabbits ,oliver said he was behind the nets killing rabbits as they were driven in ,he said he thought he had killed a hare it was that big ,they gutted the catch and went home .When oliver hung is share up he saw the rabbit was wearing a snare .I have never forgetten that shush,he said ,i got a bob for him.
