The Tarantula Trap... can be difficult to set.  And difficult to escape!

There’s a bait hook on it,reminds me of a pike trap I saw once.

That is what i thought it was ,hence why i have asked. I think it was something alive and tied onto the hook some how, maybe a locust or something along those lines..

One thing it ain’t is for catching tarantulas

when I first joined this forum there was a huge trap auction in Reading,some old bloke had died and had a collection of weird and wonderful traps from around the world.OTC who used to be on here was there.I saw a fish trap,for pike,that reminded me of this trap.Multiple prongs for holding a slippery fish and a bait hook.

Yes, this is a fish trap.  A rather crude out take of the S. W. Evans' Eagle Claw fish trap.  More like an upside umbrella than a tarantula!  One needs three hands to set this powerful trap.  Very awkward to set.
