Its symptomatic of the country we have become is what it is, namely, Britain for sale, any offer accepted ! It’s stupidity at best and treacherous at worst but what it isn’t is “far right” ! No the right believe in free enterprise with no government interference. They believe the the private sector should be able to operate with little or no bureaucracy. It's a fair ideology. But when it comes to care of the elderly and something so basic as the provision of clean water then the profit motive fails. It's a far right position. The far right believe all basic services should be provided by the private sector. Which is why, in this country, Thatcher sold off virtually all of our national assets to the private sector. Just as a government controlling every facet of your life with rules, regulations and surveillance is a far left government . Everybody seems to want the same thing. A free economy without burdensome red tape and parasitic bureaucrats, but we also want strong public services....a safety net of a health service, decent roads and clean water! Shame we can't achieve that in this country.
