Rickshaw swami 4,594
Last monday I dug a terrier bitch to a beaver. She did her job well and I was proud of her. I have kept a close check on her ever since keeping her in the living room. This morning she had swelling between her eyes.So it was off to the vet.The vets office was crowded with people with overweight dogs. They all stared at my bitch giving me the evil eye. When I got in the back the vet said she had never treated a beaver cut.So I gave her a 10 minute course on the subject. She was fascinated by the fact there was a dog alive crazy enough to catch a beaver lol. Prescription of antibiotics and she said be good as new. When I walked from the back with my terrier the whole crowd give the evil eye again.Even worse some labradoodle growled at me.My redneck grew warmer.I wanted to bite the mutt and kick his owner who was staring at me.I am not meant for these civilised times when men can be butchered and dogs aren't allowed to get a paper cut. Small beavers teeth few weeks ago.

It's rare for beaver bites to get infected but this one did.Their mouths are cleaner than fox.But they leave a parasite called giardia everywhere they go.It can be treated with alot of fenbendazole wormer.

WILF 51,912
Do you use this stuff buddy ? Only used to be able to get it your side of the pond, it’s like a miracle !…..it will seal and heal anything ! We used it to basically rebuild a terriers nose years ago…..if a dog has a wound this stuff puts it right double quick. I haven’t hunted with dogs for years but I still keep a tube…..it was hard to get, never used to be in sale in the U.K. If you don’t have any, get some, that’s the best thing you will read today, trust me.

I generally avoid the lodges you see made of stick. Its dirt tubes usually through islands. Most terriers learn after their first that jaw to jaw doesn't work on beaver.Of course some never learn. This time of year they lower our rivers by man made dams.So tubes that are submerged most of the year are now dry which is the only reason I can hunt them with terriers. You must have low water.this beaver bolted from 2 sets before being dug in a third set. . 4
