How many times a day do you feed bitch in pup?

She's five weeks now and filling out , I'm giving her breakfast and  early evening meal .

I not bred a liter for years and bitch and pups always done well on what I fed but bitch I got just wants to eat and eat .

Anyway I feel to much can not be good so going to break her meals down to 3 a day and feed quality over quantity.,

While pregnant twice is fine. Make sure to give lots of ricotta and goats milk. And some calcium in the form of egg shells or raw chicken on the bone. One they are born play it by ear. I use 1 carton of goats milk and one tub of ricotta a day. After 2 weeks they should start weaning. At that point, soak the puppy kibble in warm goats milk and ricotta, also add a squirt of honey. As the pups grow you will need to increase how often you feed them. By the time they are 6 weeks old youlle probably be feeding 4 times a day. Try to take the load off the mother as much as you can. Producing milk takes up a lot of energy and calcium so supplement with goats milk and ricotta.

Thanks for your reply,I always give goats milk and I'll give the ricotta a go ,I've started to feed her 3 small meals a day because she was behaving like she was hungry all the time and she seems to be happy now ,she's on a raw diet , I feed chicken wings ,carcus, lamb ribs and rabbit, beef, duck mix with tripe .

She gets

 scrambled eggs in morning

Raw at lunch

50% meat kibble early evening.

Very hard work you have got ahead of you puppies been born once they start walking and chasing their mom for milk you wanna get out to good homes

I know mate , I'll get the pups eating asap, I've always found rice pudding irresistible to pups and scrambled eggs then get them eating beef mince .

I can place 4 pups straight the way and one I'll keep myself, what's left I'll pop on here at the cost of feed ,jabs ,dew claws and chip before I put them up anywhere else.

Don't they say that even a wormed bitch will pass worms on to pups that's why you still have to worm the pups? I can't remember the reason for it.

Better feeding two smaller meals of quality food and about half as much again as you would normally, just go on the bitches condition. When the pups are born give her plenty of meat to keep the milk flowing. Worm the bitch with a safe wormer for pregnancy and the pups at 2, 4 and 8 weeks.

When a bitch gets pregnant the tapeworm cysts that are laying dormant in her muscles wake up and will be infect her and also they migrate to her milk bar to infect the pups. That's why both need to wormed. The pups should be wormed every 2 weeks. Its a two pronged attack to kill off the worms
