Fight like f**k. My lad was shocked. Said even the smaller one put up a fight lol. You think their finished then go again. Said not like carp are they just a dead weight. There designed like F1 motors. 😂

Keeps the young lads of the streets mate that’s a good thing. Carp fishing is the most boring thing on earth like catching gold  fish at the shows lol

Carp will do the same as barbel all good fun

Do they bollocks carp do run but not like barbel. You look at the size difference in a 30lb carp to a 14lb barbel. Big fat things carp barbel are fit. Have to be living in fast flowing water.

Ugly looking fuckers but they do like powerful mate. Can you get them on the fly and spin or is more carp tactics for them ?

It's becoming quite popular to catch them on the fly....they were never  liked and would be culled years ago by the salmon ghillies treated as a pest.... because they are an inquisitive fish they see a shoal of anything behind the groynes, and they go over for a nose lol,end up pushing the game fish out into the main flow..... Weakening them and stopping them getting to the spawning grounds 👍

These days they generate more income than the salmon across all the rivers in England and Wales, and are they are tolerated👍

Brilliant watch that Danny. There's an orvis shop in Bakewell been in a few times one more near me at Shelley Huddersfield way called fly only. Decent shop. Not a cheap hobby though fly fishing.

It's like anything else mate, you can get a decent starter set up these days for not a lot of  money,I got my lad a starter set from Lidl, little 4/ 5wt flyrod reel £15/20,went on that temu, few boxes of different flies and buzzers etc, gunk, tapered leaders and a few different forward weight lines and he was away...spent about £60 all in...Great fun,he's caught perch, little carp off the surface with it...

Barbel out the Calder around Wakefield always had deformed tails, supposedly due to all the heavy metals trapped in the silt. Must be getting cleaner, who knows.

It's not getting cleaner Yorkshire water are dumping shite on a daily basis Sean. The waters clear at the moment because all the shite has settled due to no rain. The bottom of the waters a right mess. With crap some areas where the gravels at. All you can see is shite that's settled on it. Some areas are in a poor state mate. Chantry bridge has always been a hot spot for chub and barbel. I'm hitting towards Thornhill way.
