Bangers, so all you want is a “ point and slip” dog ?

I consider myself a “dog worker” , not a “ dog trainer”, but I start a pup/ young dog on a 30 yard long leash, it trains them not to range too far, and to return when you call them.

30’ long leash and a rabbit skin training dummy. Easy to teach your dog recall, retrieving and not to range too far ;

You will cover far more ground with a dog that quarters a field and ranges about 30 yards around you, and find more game than just “point and slip”.

Each to their own do suppose but it’s daft to denigrate a decently trained dog that finds its own quarry but is still under control.

Cheers.

like you said mate the dogs come back follow you it’s normal you don’t have to try lol

but at the same time it loses something it needs to get it up and also if sometime it in the field it should find it

Mate you cant tell me how to bring a dog on. When a fell ill the dogs i had on at the time went to kipper. The man heard through the grapevine about the dogs i was kenneling and what they were doing. Only credit I could take was for showing them the land putting stuff infront of them. Every thing else was in the breeding.

From 14 months old both dogs were at the top of their game. A could slip them " if the dogs lost them in cover or the odd holes on edge of the land.  I'd stay where I'd slipped the dogs and they'd come straight back after looking about the area where they'd lost it.

After that they'd be straight back. Wouldn't start hunting up they'd come back to me. Im not into that letting a dog lose its head doing its own thing hunting up , scenting quartering the land. Thats okay for every day to day all round box standard lurcher. Sounds like coursing changed over the years from lads listening to rabbiting lurcher men who've had odd lamping hares.  lol

But old coursing day time men wouldn't be letting dogs do their own thing. You hear Marcus mc on a few of them dvds . Shouting because the dogs started to do its own thing after missing its kill.  Think it was Kim that did it a few times. I like to slip the dog get the kills , dog back on lead. off the land not waiting for dog in the middle of the land hunting up.

a dog with high prey drive can sometimes be a c**t mate you have to live with it the best all do it

If i was going to get a normal lurcher again for rabbit. Like a beddy whippet ,

Deer hound / grey / beddy whippet

Collie x grey . Then yes on lamp id train it to heal out on lamp. Like ive done with luchers in the past before I started coursing. But was told from day one. " Don't be treating this dog like a normal lurcher. " Many saluki x greys are head strong want to do there own thing. If you start letting them do there own thing hunt up youll wish you Hadn't.

My pals dog that was bred out of a racing grey to one of sankeys dogs. Used to f***ing hunt up all the time. Would f**k the day up. Once it missed a run it would be all over. You'd see hares in distance moving gone. Not good when you've travelled miles. Lol.

No don't give me that now. f**k that. The dog will mooch around the area jumping about if its lost the hare trying to push it back out of cover or if its down a hole stay around that . But once it realises its done. It should come straight back. Not start f***ing off doing its own thing. Ad kick the c**t straight under chin. Running around like a c**t.

Thing is with saluki x dogs are unforgiving when you give them some shoe. Hard to bring them back around. A did it once to a saluki x only cracked it on head with my hand for chewing kennel up. f**k me you'd of thought a was killing the c**t the screaming it was doing.

No wonder you won't let yours off the lead mate, you've got to have a bit of patience Bangers lad or else you'll ruin em. When you get ya next pup mC will show you, you have to get feral with em.

Day time coursing men old school dont have the dogs off the lead. You go back to most dvds that were from vhs. Met ups of coursing men. Are the dogs off the leads around the land ,? No there not. All the men have the dogs on the f***ing leads. Waiting for there runs. Your just a moocher most days and nights letting the dogs do there own things. Thats not day time coursing that's just chancing that on that day the dogs will pull sumat up by hunting up. You couldn't go out with Marcus on his permission. And them dogs of yours just be running about. And dont lie by saying you could. Because a know now. That wouldn't be happening.

He hasn't got a clue mate. The bad habits them dogs will have , and pass it down will be like the scruffy c**ts you see on the estates. Like you say feral as f**k. Letting dogs munch down on kill after then dogs back on another run with a stomach full . c**t thinks hes got a BOP.
