Increase of prices of pellets over the years

Recommended Posts

Over the years pellets have been cheap and such a lot on the market now they are up to £20 a tin for some SMK Spitfire are the cheapest as I can see 22 cal more then 177 cal GAMO got their brand which are suitable I have heard and had some air rifles are pellet fussy which that can be a nightmare as which pellets being lodged in the barrel

2.5 pellets bigger and heavier non suitable for 22 as the barrel of the 2.5 is bigger and more costly on purpose of pellets and some pellets are only a small amount in the tins even they are not cheap bisley pellets do tin amounts 250 approx of pellets 177 or 22 not much difference in the price of each other bulls eye in a tube for 250 to 500 pellets I remember looking at a tin of bullseye pellets 500 in tin cost of £1.35p back in the latest 70s now they be £10 to £12 a tin like every thing the inflation

SMK are the cheapest because they are shite along with Gamo not far behind and what the hell are 'Bulls Eye' pellets, some other crap no doubt.

As for pellets lodged in the barrel, never normally an issue unless someone has loaded more than one pellet.

.25 pellets are bigger than a .22 barrel............................well well well who would have thought that.

Not really sure what you are saying to be honest.

I can remember when i used to control the rabbits at work a university nearly 500 acres  i did it for 10 years shot loads of rabbits and the Estate manager bought me pellets as he wasnt using them in his airgun Air arms fields , When i had to buy my own after that  i got a rude awakening . Somebody said the big price increase was as Chima was buying all the scrap lead up .

Price of lead went up so pellets got to double the price, I only shoot air arms pellets now as my Remington pest controller prefers them,  but stay away from smk and other cheap brands as you get what you pay fot

Perhaps this is bad timing as I have given away a few thousand pellets for melting down to make fishing leads however I wonder if it is worthwhile setting up a post for pellet / slug swaps so samples could be sent out if someone has a few spares which our old Member, Mitch, has done for me and I have sent pellets to others.

Who thinks it is worth doing.
