Pardus 1,611
It is certainly better than the procession that is F1 these days, 60 odd laps around Monaco yesterday with a crazy amount of overtakes, one. Edited May 26 by Pardus

I think they need to knock the monaco grand prix on the head. Yes, it's a glamorous historic race, but it's simply not suited to today's races or cars, hasn't been for years. I don't know tbh, yes it's a wank race but the prestige loss would hurt the sport IMO, there's many other rubbish tracks with no soul whatsoever, I can't ever see them getting rid of Monaco but they need to change something.

Like you said, it's basically been just a procession for years, and doesn't conjure up any real 'race enthusiasm.' Apart from the 'glamorous star appeal' it's a pretty poor, boring race. The trouble is, the cars are now the biggest they have ever been, next year is a massive regulation change and they are making them substantially smaller but still nowhere near as small as they heyday, the early 90's. It was particularly bad this year because they mandated two stops, so teammates ended up driving several seconds a lap slower so their teammate ahead could pit and come out ahead of the pack.

Yep, in it's heyday monaco was the 50's and 60's. Since then, the cars have got bigger and far faster, and the tight, narrow streets and turns/bends don't suit modern F1. Definitely not, but I can still find it somewhat exciting, I mean watching them around the narrow streets is impressive, especially in qualifying. I'm not one of those that needs to see countless DRS passes on the straights, Monaco does have that anticipation to it even if it's nearly always a procession.
