That’s interesting mate and probably the most succinct explanation of what I suspect most of us who don’t live in a land of fantasy are thinking except we don’t have the education or skills to put it into such a well worded package.

I think most of us are baffled as why obviously insane things are treated and talked about like they are real…..as he said at the end ”supportive” because that’s what we are told we have to do…..in reality we would not have a serious conversation with someone who said they were going to land a rocket on the sun, we would just say “nice dream but you know it’s not real” and we wouldn’t have any conversations like it was real….we would just move on.

Sadly, it’s the common narrative to say that calling things what they are must mean you hate someone or something and so I think many are scared to do that…..maybe not overtly scared but even subconsciously.

Edited to add:

My wife’s dementia training tells people caring for those with dementia not to object with the patients fantasy but to just go along with it because it’s the objection that causes the distress in the patient…..in that scenario I can see how going along with a fantasy is the kindest and most humane thing.
A 50 year old plumber pretending to be a bird isn’t that !

What we are doing in so many walks of life (imho) is mistaking a cruelty for a kindness…..
