eastcoast 4,468
An important day in the Catholic calendar. Despite being a lapsed Catholic for many years, I still try and refrain from eating meat on Good Friday. If I slip up or forget it does not take long for the Catholic guilt to creep in. Bless me father for I have sinned, I had a bacon sandwich for breakfast.. Funny how it stays with you.

The longest most boring mass of the year followed by the Stations of the Cross. Count down to chocolate on Easter Sunday though after having given up sweets for Lent

Imo Ramadan is similar in that way such as they give alot up such as the fasting etc before the celebrations which they will appreciate more. Easter and Christmas for most is just to easy you buy the eggs n eat them often weeks before also and after when there on offer and Christmas it just well happens as good as it is but it isn't earned or what could or should be appreciated in a way such Ramadan which I'm using as an example just my outlook on it.. A valid point, particularly in these days of religious extremism. Not relevant to my childhood. I regard myself as fortunate to be brought up in a safe, loving environment by great parents. When I told them that I did not have the faith that they had it was met with disappointment but not drama. Using the argument that they had brought me up to be honest. Some of it I have always kept with me such as treat others the way you would want to be treated yourself, dad taught me that. Other things not so much, such as turn the other cheek. I have found that knocking the c**t out is a better option. Dad taught me that.

Glad you took no malice in what i wrote as it was written without malice mate and your parents were right in the way they meant it to live a life by......
