Two o'clock in the morning and a branch brushing against your face or a vixen's scream can makes you feel like the prey and not the predator.Lol Walking the woods at night with no artificial light is even worse especially on your own.

This place had a woodland walk , along a valley floor . We'd walked about half a mile , stopping every few yards to have a look with the thermal . As we approached a blind bend in the path , the most blood curdling screaming and howling , blasted into my ear from the blackness , from about three feet away . I almost shat my feckin undercrackers !. When I finally got the torch out of my pocket , I saw the speaker thing strapped to a tree , that had a sensor on it , that got triggered when kids walked past on their Halloween school trips . Not much really troubles me when I'm out having a mooch in the dark , but that feckin thing put the fear of God into me that night. I still think that my mate wet his pants , but we never speak of it . Once our heart rates had returned to normal, and we'd both tried to convince each other that we weren't really scared , my mate had a look through the thermal , and three muntjac were standing and watching us from about ten yards away . It was even more scary , than the time that I thought I had a dozen aliens following me in the dark, but that's a whole other story . 1 1
tatsblisters 10,933
One of the scary moments for me was mooching about in a big wood for a few pheasants and it wasn't the best of nights weather wise with not much wind and a could ear a farm dog barking not all that far away then after a few minutes it stopped after dropping a few birds with the 410 I stepped onto a wide path to see a black shadow coming towards me growling I shot off the path and put my back to a large oak tree to see a doberman that must have been the farmer's come close but it just had a sniff around and feked off thankfully I also feked off though a lot faster than the doberman might I ad.
jukel123 9,276
I can remember having a conversation with a keeper who was only about 15 yards away. I told him not to be a hero and try and lay hands on me. I informed him I would do a deal, I wouldn't come back to this area. He said absolutely nothing. After a stand off and much peering through the gloom, I realised the keeper was a tree.

I can chuckle about it now , but it was one of the scariest moments of my life. I could hear my pulse racing in my ears . The aliens thing was pretty scary as well . I shoot a paddock that had a small hill , riddled with rabbit holes . I used to love laying on top of the hill on a warm evening , and shooting rabbits as they came out to feed. I'd take a shot , then lay my head down and have a sleep , until more rabbits popped out. I'd been laying out one warm summer Saturday night. It was about two am , and I'd got a few rabbits to find , so I thought I'd pick them up , and call it a night . I'd picked up a couple , when I heard a bit of a thump in the corner of the paddock behind me. Thinking that it would be another rabbit , I turned my night vision on , and raised the gun to the corner of the field . Well. In the corner of the field was a dozen aliens , with long faces , dazzling eyes , and long thin legs , all walking towards me . I almost feckin fainted . I thought. " so this is how it all ends , with anal probing , by aliens that I never even feckin believed in" , it frightened the life out of me . I was backing away from the aliens for a few seconds , and mentally preparing to take several of them to the grave with me , when my brain caught up with itself , and I realised that it was a group of young bullocks , that I hadn't seen over the other side of the hill , and they'd backed themselves into the corner , and were all watching me in the dark . With the aid of night vision , and an overactive imagination, I could see those long alien faces , and their thin alien legs .
jukel123 9,276
I was long netting one night and was just packing up. I had 13 rabbits with their legs criss crosed on a stick. A milking herd of friesans surrounded me curiously. I carried on walking totally unconcerned when one of the cows leapt into the air on all fours and let out a mighty bellow. I realised immediately it was a bull, dropped everything and legged it like Usain Bolt. Fortunately the bull was more interested in my dropped gear and concentrated on rubbing it's head on that. I waited about half an hour until the herd moved away. When I went back I found my gear and rabbits full of shit and my net ruined. Hey ho,you win some, lose a lot.
