Nice bitch 1 Quote Link to post
FUJI 17,623
To save me replying to several messages asking what I feed my mongrels on especially throughout the season well as I've aged I try to make thing's as easy as possible for myself,I don't feed my dog's much kibble but what they do get is decent quality stuff I'd like to think..I feed Orijen (Fit & Trim),Acana,Eden & Truline along with an old friend Eukanuba..with that I'll add a little pasta and for a number of year's now I've used the 'dry meat'..(beef greaves) as their main meat source, they don't need a lot of it as it's 60% protein & has a 40% fat content, all the above kibble are around the 40% protein mark & high in fat content too,I then put a raw meat 'topper' on their dinners of either minced chicken or venison to that I add a sprinkle of garlic powder plus bonemeal & from November through February I feed them an extra meal with just a cup of one of the aforementioned kibble soaked in Lamlac,on the weekends I only feed them 3 raw chicken carcasses daily each, nothing else. They seem to do ok on what I feed them & generally look ok on it too..top & bottom of it is they get nothing fancy at all & my day's of being bent over skinning/gutting all day & putting it through the old Hobart mincer are pretty much done..my only advice is this, whatever you feed,be pretty consistent with it & feed at the same time daily...& my biggest bit of advice if feeding kibble is this CHECK THE INGREDIENTS..if meat is NOT the first ingredient on there then rest assured it's rubbish no matter how good the packaging looks,if it states cereal that's the WORST of all followed closely by wheat & corn..you want to see a source of meat as the number one ingredient & when you see a bag of dog food with the word WITH 'Chicken etc' that means it has by UK law ONLY got to have a meat content of 4% and that can be by animal derivatives which could be anything or even worse just meat gravy..I know it's a minefield out there but don't be fooled by the marketing that many of these brands put out there.. anyways it's almost the weekend so have a good one folk's,watch how ya's go & stay safe whatever you're doing & wherever you go 4 Quote Link to post
