never had one on a running dog and never will .... they take enoughe of a risk without me adding to them by leaving a collar on ..............................

:good: Spot on mate !

Even though the lads on here that have posted have never had any problems,

Why run the risk ?? are they necessary ??

I've seen a lurcher twat itself on a barbed wire fence because of a collar, years back.... makes me cringe when I see them on your dogs.... not knocking anyone just my opinion.... :friends:

NO NEVER RUN WITH COLLAR SEEN A DOG BREAK ITS NECK GOING THROUGH WIRE. MATES DO IT THOUGH NEARLY ALL ARE USING THE SPRING SLIP LEADS STILL PREFER THE ORDINARY LEAD LOOPED THROUGH THE FINGERS. THOUGH ONLY EXCEPTION WHEN DRAWING IT IS USEFUL TO HELP THE DOG OUT AND TO BREAK OF IF CATCH AND RELEASE.

my dog always has a collar on for the simple reason hes nearly impossible to get anything with one, so what would it be like if didnt have one... those lads on here that have seen him on his job will defonatly vouch for that!!!! :11: :11:

HAVE WORKED MY DOGS WITH COLLARS ON SINCE I WAS OLD ENOUGH TO BE ALLOWED A LURCHER 14 YRS OLD,IM 30,NOW NEVER HAD A PROBLEM,AND THATS A LOT OF LAMPING,ALSO WHEN UR RUNNING THE BIGGER STUFF,ITS ESENTIAL YOUR DOG HAS A COLLAR ON,AS IT MAKES LIFE EASYER,TO GET THE DOG OFF,ALSO IT PROBABLY HELPS NOW AND AGAIN,PREVENTS YOUR DOG FROM GETTING NECK AND THROAT BITES,MANY TIMES IVE LOOKED AT BITES ON THE COLLAR,MUST HELP!!!IVE ALSO SEEN THE QUICK RELEASE COLLARS USED AND I THINK THEY'RE CRAP,THE COURSING ONES ARE BETTER,BUT MOST THE LAMPING BOYS I KNOW ARE TOO TIGHT TO,BUY A SLIP LET ALONE SPEND £20-£30 ON A COURSING QUICK RELEASE COLLAR,INTERESTING THREAD THO SWAN!!! ONE TIME I WOULDNT USE A COLLAR IS ON ANY OF MY TRASHING,OR HUNTING DOGS,WORKING THICK COVER IN THE DAY,AS ITS TOO EASY TO GET A DOG HUNG UP THAT WAY....

Good posts lads, I'm not knocking anyone, just asking!!!

bites on collars are proof that they do the dog no favours though... gives the lil red feckers something to grip on to...

I'm 38 soon, and have only ever seen collars injure a dog twice... once on a fence once when it came on top and the dog got his foot in the collar... probably both exceptional circumstances .... but it still makes me cringe when I see them on dogs...

oh and it's 5.30am and I just come in from the casino.... :yahoo::yahoo:
