Wolfdog91 7,706
Don't think my family has ever bought a dog. And don't think we've ever not had a dog or three for more then a two month period. Having a dog is just, idk normal. Actually always confused me when people would talk about how much work and responsibility a dog was. I just grew up with them and it wasn't anything more extra for me. Making sure you dog was happy fed and what not was just , life.... And it's not like they really did anything special. I mean bark at possible intruders, run cows off the fence use them for tracking from time to Time. But all where generally just mutts. But dogs are just apart of how my family operates Anyhow like I said don't think we've ever bought a dog . Seems almost like it's perfectly timed by God the universe or what have you. When one dies or goes missing or is close to the end .... A stray will just magically pop up almost like it's their time to be the replacement. Sometime they will just walk up to the house and well feeder and if they stick round we just say screw it and slap a collar on them. Other times we'll find one half starved on the side of the road and just stop and pick them up and try and find the owner , 8/10 times we never can so we just adopt them.Idk it's weird. Dad just sent me this .. lost one of our dogs this morning just old age and her being a fat lap dog and like I mentioned.. Weird how that always happens 11

Weird how that always happens We don't tend to have spare dogs ready to be plucked off the street round my way. Or strays that turn up on the doorstep with serendipity as if they knew there was a vacancy . If we did it might make things easier as my old boy is really showing his age now, kidneys , eyes and ears just starting to go South , and l really don't know how to replace him . Getting a puppy while he's still with me would be like kicking him in the guts . Retirement would be a cruel thing for him. Actually he only really shows his age when he's lounging about the house . He'll sleep all day or slope about looking lost ; whereas it wasn't that long ago that a passing stranger ,or even better ,a workman coming to the house would turn him into a werewolf! Take him out working or for a run or throw him a frisbee though and he sheds years like he does hair on the carpetHe becomes young again. . Then he comes home eats and sleeps as if someone had taken his batteries out . In fact sometimes l wonder if he's going to wake-up . It would be a good way for him to go when the time comes. At the moment he's still enjoying a proper dog's life . 16
